Two days ago I was lucky enough to be in one of the most important wineries of La Rioja known as the Rioja Cathedral. But even this nickname comes up short.
As soon as you enter the sweet smell of wine envelops you and tells you what you're about to see: a beautiful architectural structure that along with the play of the interior light envelops you and the wine in a halo of mystery. This mystery is soon unveiled thanks to the explanations of Álvaro García, the head of wine tourism there.
One of the most striking buildings is its huge underground cellar. From a platform above the cellar you can look down and see it’s roof which consists of 111 interconnecting hexagonal domes before descending into its depths.
Among the red wines produced are: Young, Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva. Rosé, white wine and champagne are also produced. I had the opportunity to try the Gran Reserva and even if you are not a wine expert you will recognize its quality and will be won over by its taste and aroma.
The guided tour helped me begin to understand that every bottle is a work of art- unique and special.

Hace dos días tuve la suerte de estar en una de las Bodegas más importantes de La Rioja conocida como la Catedral del Rioja y su apodo se queda corto.
Nada mas entrar un dulce olor a vino te envuelve y te avisa de lo que estás a punto de ver, una estructura arquitectónica bellísima que junto con el juego de las luces envuelve a la elaboración del vino en un halo de misterio, el cual se desvelará pronto gracias a las explicaciones de Álvaro García, el responsable de enoturismo.
Una de las cosas más impactantes del edificio es su Bodega, inmensa y con forma de “y” cuenta con 111 cúpulas hexagonales, tuve la oportunidad de subirme a una especie de plataforma y ver todo el esplendor de la bodega desde arriba.
Entre los vinos producidos cuenta con vino tinto-crianza, reserva y Gran Reserva- rosado, blanco y cava. He tenido la oportunidad de probar el Gran Reserva y aunque uno no sea un experto en la materia su paladar reconocerá la calidad y quedará prendado por su sabor y aroma.
Las visitas guiadas no tienen desperdicio y al conocer la elaboración del vino empiezas a comprender que cada botella es una obra de arte única y especial.
